Morris Environmental Policy

Morris is a large privately owned company operating four trading divisions:

Morris Property, Morris Care, Morris Marketing & Morris Site Machinery

To fulfill the Morris philosophy, the Company aims to conduct its operations in an environmentally sound manner, through continual improvement in the environmental performance of all its activities.

To achieve this we:

  • Develop and maintain effective environmental management systems, appropriate to the activities of each Division.
  • Identify and comply with all required environmental laws and regulations.
  • Set objectives and targets to reduce our environmental impacts.
  • Develop key performance indicators to track our progress.
  • Ensure that all employees, managers and directors understand the policy, the arrangements for carrying it out and the part they play in its implementation.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to incidents resulting from our operations, co-operating as necessary with industry organisations and authorised government agencies.
  • Undertake regular reviews and evaluations of our operations to measure progress and to ensure compliance with this policy.
  • We will aim, where appropriate, to reduce the environmental impacts associated with the use of transport.

In the management of our premises and activities we seek to:

  • Reduce the consumption of energy and water.
  • Minimise waste, explore opportunities for reuse and recycling and dispose of the remainder according to good practice and statutory requirements.
  • Minimise the use of hazardous materials.

In the acquisition of premises we seek to assess current and potential environmental aspects, and in the development of property we seek to ensure that:

  • Design and specifications take account of the need to minimise environmental impact in the construction process.
  • Employees and contractors understand and comply with our environmental management objectives and understand the need to comply with any specific control procedures associated with the development.

It is the responsibility of the Divisional Directors to ensure that an action plan is developed relevant to their own areas, setting out objectives, activity and measurement criteria.

Progress reports will be submitted to the Board member with overall responsibility for environmental matters who will produce a regular report appraising the Board and its Chairman on progress and performance.
