Morris & Company lights up Prince of Wales Bowls Club

Prince of Wales Bowls Club is now set to enjoy year-round play thanks to a generous £500 donation from Morris & Company. The contribution has gone towards the installation and running of new floodlights at the club’s green, a vital addition that will prevent the cancellation of matches during the darker winter months.

The need for floodlights became apparent as reduced daylight hours forced the club to call off games, much to the disappointment of its members. Keen bowls player and Estates Maintenance Manager at Morris Property, Martin Weaver, who has been a member of Prince of Wales Bowls Club for many years, nominated the cause to the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team.

Gill Moore, a long-standing member of Prince of Wales Bowls Club said: “These new floodlights will make a huge difference, allowing us to continue playing the sport we love throughout the year. We’re incredibly grateful for Morris’ generosity.”

Leanne McBeth, a member of Morris & Company CSR team commented: “Morris & Company is passionate about supporting local causes that make a real difference to the community. We were delighted to help Prince of Wales Bowls Club ensure their members can continue to enjoy their sport, regardless of the season.”

The new floodlights were successfully installed in April and have already been welcomed by the club members, who are looking forward to many more evenings of bowling.
