Working Here

Tremayne Ashton

Receptionist

Unbelievably, this year marks my 20th year with Morris & Company. In my role, I am usually the first person visitors meet and I take this responsibility seriously. It’s my mission to make everyone feel at ease as soon as they come through our wonderful carved entrance doors. I’m a real people person and love meeting new faces.

No two days are the same in this job and I like to think I’m like a swan; cool and calm on the surface and paddling away underneath!

I get involved in so many activities here. As a trained dancer since the age of three, I was once roped into teaching my colleagues the infamous Jerusalema dance routine – hilarious but great fun.

Sabrina Meek

Accounts Assistant

I have worked in finance for over 15 years, having started in my first accountancy role straight after finishing my A Levels. I passed my AAT in 2010 whilst working in practice and started my journey with Morris & Company in 2016.

My favourite thing about working in finance is having set processes and working to deadlines. It’s nice to work in a team where we all support each other and have a laugh – you don’t usually find that in finance offices!

As a family-run business, Morris & Company understand the importance of family life. The team here have supported me through my pregnancies and accommodate flexible working hours during the summer holidays so I can be there for my two young children.

My social highlights have been participating in the Dragon Boat Festival and filming at Marrington – there are always new opportunities to get involved with here.

Alex Morris

Quantity Surveyor

My career in property started as a plumber on site over 15 years ago. Since then, I built my career and have been working as a Quantity Surveyor for over 10 years.

With a young family and a busy working life, it can be difficult to fit it all in, but I’m grateful that the Company and my colleagues are so understanding and accommodating. One particular highlight for me was the Company’s recent 150th celebrations and it was great to be acknowledged as part of that achievement.

I enjoy the variety and balance between working in the office and being out on site and am a great believer in constantly learning new things. In my work here, I’m exposed to a range of different sectors and projects which helps expand my experience.

Claire Brown

Group Communications Manager

I have been in a variety of different roles in my 17 years with Marketing. Since 2005, I’ve gained two children and built my career with some amazing colleagues.

My role means that one minute I can be editing a website, the next pitching to a national journalist and I love the challenge of working across all of our businesses and coming up with exciting new ideas. I thrive with a tight deadline, which is just as well working with the media!

Over the years, I feel I’ve found my place within this family business and adapted as we’ve evolved. Keeps me on my toes.

Emma Powell

Associate Solicitor

After 9 years at a local firm of solicitors I joined the Company in 2018 as a Chartered Legal Executive to work alongside our Company Secretary and Group Solicitor, Lyndsey.

When the Solicitors Qualifying Examination was introduced in 2021 I decided I wanted to qualify as a Solicitor and studied for the exams in my own time alongside my busy role here.  I was delighted to be amongst the first tranche of students who sat and successfully passed the exams and was admitted as a Solicitor in September 2022. My Morris colleagues were incredibly supportive throughout the whole process and I am now embracing my new role of Associate Solicitor.

It’s a demanding job but one I thoroughly enjoy.  Working for a group of companies means no one day is the same and I love the variation but the best part of the role for me is being part of the Morris team and seeing our developments evolve from advising on initial site acquisitions all the way through to seeing a tenant or buyer being handed the keys to their new property.

Phil Griffiths

Contracts Manager

I am a long-standing member of Morris Property, having been with the team for over 24 years. My role is to oversee and manage construction projects from start to finish – and quickly sort any problems out along the way! Morris Property have supported me to progress my career by moving me up the ranks from a bricklayer, to site management and now as a Contracts Manager. Watching the Company grow has bought me great pleasure, and I have enjoyed a number of highlights over the years. I am a firm believer in a positive attitude and willingness to adapt to the unexpected, it’s the key to success in the construction industry.
