Shropshire Racketball stars make history with Nationals clean sweep

Morris & Company were delighted to see the Shropshire Racketball teams make history by claiming all three titles at the National Intercounty Masters Racketball Championships.

Competing at the prestigious Berkhamsted Lawn Tennis and Squash Rackets Club over the weekend of 18–19 April, Shropshire players delivered a dominant performance, securing national titles in the Over 40s, Over 50s and Over 60s categories.

The clean sweep is an unprecedented achievement in the tournament’s history and reflects the depth of talent, commitment and teamwork across Shropshire’s racketball community – values that strongly align with Morris & Company’s support of local sport.

Shropshire captain Chris Wase credited preparation and resilience for the remarkable result:

“We knew going in that we had strong teams across the age groups, but it still took some really tough matches and key decisions at the right moments to get over the line.
To come away with all three titles is something special – and something that’s never been done before.”

Strong competition was faced throughout the weekend, with Hertfordshire finishing runners‑up in the Over 40s, Warwickshire in the Over 50s and Devon in the Over 60s divisions. The National Intercounty Masters forms part of the wider UK Racketball competition calendar, bringing together leading players from across the country each year.

Mike Harris, owner and head coach at UK Racketball, praised the achievement:

“Massive congratulations to the Shropshire lads – a brilliant group, superbly led by Chris Wase.”

We are pleased to support Shropshire Racketball and celebrate a result with our Director that sets a new benchmark for the sport – both locally and nationally.
