Donation helps young patient progress at The Movement Centre

Two-year-old ‘L’ is making inspiring progress in her physical development journey after starting a specialised course of therapy at The Movement Centre.

Thanks to our £500 sponsorship, ‘L’ has a dedicated standing frame, which is playing a crucial role in her daily therapy routine. As part of her exercises, she is encouraged to spend 30 minutes in the frame every day doing hands-free reaching activities to strengthen her core muscles — a key foundation for further mobility.

‘L’ was self-referred to the centre at just 13 months old due to noticeable delays in her physical development. While she has no formal diagnosis, she experiences challenges with movement control, prompting her family to seek expert support.

Upon beginning her journey at The Movement Centre, ‘L’ was provided with the custom standing frame and enrolled in a 12-month course of Targeted Training Therapy — a specialist programme designed to help children develop head control, trunk control, and ultimately improve their ability to sit, stand, and walk.

Since starting therapy, ‘L’ has shown encouraging signs of improvement. Her posture has noticeably improved, both while sitting and when using her frame. Most significantly, she is now demonstrating better leg strength and can weight bear for longer periods.

To build on this progress, a rocking base has recently been added to her frame. This added element provides an extra challenge through gentle movement, helping further develop her strength, balance, and control.

The team at The Movement Centre, along with ‘L’s’ family, are thrilled with our support and her ongoing progress.
