Funding Boost to Help Menshed Invest in Equipment

We have donated £250 to Platform 1 Menshed in Newtown, Powys, helping the community organisation continue its valuable work supporting local people through practical activities, social connection and wellbeing initiatives.

The donation was made through the company’s ESG programme after Morris Property Estimator Mark Burgess nominated the group for support. The funding will help the Menshed purchase new woodworking machinery and essential workshop supplies, enabling members to expand the range of items they can create while helping to cover ongoing running costs.

Mark, who is a member, visited the shed to hand over the donation and meet some of those who benefit from its services.

Platform 1 Menshed provides a welcoming space where people can come together to learn new skills, work on practical projects and enjoy the company of others. Its woodworking workshop produces a variety of handmade items, including planters and bird boxes, while the facility also offers a breakout room and kitchen area for those who simply want to enjoy a cup of tea, a slice of cake and a chat.

The organisation plays an important role in supporting mental health and wellbeing within the local community. During the winter months, it opens late on two evenings each week as a warm space for anyone struggling with the rising cost of heating or in need of additional support.

Claire Brown, on behalf of Morris & Company’s ESG Team, said:

“We strongly believe in supporting the communities in which we live and work. Our team was delighted to support this donation to Platform 1 Menshed, recognising the positive difference it makes to so many people in the Newtown area. The organisation provides a welcoming and supportive environment where people can connect, learn new skills and access important community support.”

Mark Burgess added:

“Platform 1 Menshed is a fantastic community resource. This donation will help us invest in new machinery, expand what the workshop can produce and continue providing support to those who need it.”

Morris & Company’s ESG programme supports a range of charitable and community initiatives across the region, helping local organisations deliver lasting benefits to the people they serve.
