Recognition in 2019 Mayor’s Awards
Last week, we were proud to be recognised in the town’s Annual Mayor's Awards for Contribution to the Town.
The special Mayor's Award was presented to Robin Morris, on behalf of the company, for "inspiring others to follow in the footsteps of Charles Darwin with the strapline: Honouring the Past, Embracing the Future".
Peter Nutting, local Councillor and Mayor presented the Awards, recognising companies and individuals for their achievements that have benefited the town.
Amongst the winners of this year's awards were Dilwyn Jones for his support of the tourism industry and David Trumper, a renowned local historian who we are proud to be working with this year on updating our family history book.
During our 150th anniversary, we’re not only reflecting on what has been before, but looking forward and supporting young talent.
Earlier this year, in partnership with the University Centre Shrewsbury, we held the second Shropshire Young Thinkers' Awards. The competition, ‘Dear Darwin’, asked youngsters to write a letter to Charles Darwin asking for him to travel with them to a destination of their choice in any time or space. The event was a great success with a huge variety of ideas in over 500 applications.Back to news
